Srinagar-Muzafarabad bus service: Kashmiris urged not to travel on visa

16 Apr, 2004

The founder President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party, Sardar Khalid Ibrahim Khan has said that the Kashmiris on both sides of Line of Control should develop consensus on one point that they would not travel on Srinagar-Muzafarabad bus service on visa.
Addressing a forum organised by a local news agency here on Thursday, Khalid said that there would be no difference in Chakothi and Wagha border if the Kashmiris started travelling on this bus service.
"The present peace process between India and Pakistan will prove a futile effort if India does not recognise Kashmiris right of self-determination," he said.
AJKPP President warned that the ideological orientation of Pakistan will be at stake if the rulers diverted from UN resolutions.
The country has got independence on the basis of two-nation theory and it is accepted by the Hindus, British and other world powers.
If Pakistan compromises on UN resolutions encouraging Kashmir, it will be disastrous for integration of the country, he added.
He further said that the military intervention in Pakistani politics and imposition of martial laws has weakened its stance on Kashmir.
He regretted that President Musharraf has addressed the Pakistani parliament with out uniform but due to weakness of AJK rulers, he addressed AJK Assembly in his Commando uniform.
To a question on differences in All Parties Hurriyat Conference, he said that it is part of political process and it will be resolved soon.
However, Sardar Khalid said that the position of Ansari group is weak on the issue of talks with India.
He said that APHC point of view was that they would not talk to India under Indian Constitution but the APHC (Ansari group) has backed out.
He made it clear that when there was PP coalition government in AJK, President Musharraf wished to address AJK Legislative Assembly but we refrained.
He said that the present peace process can not succeed without the acceptance of Kashmiris right of self determination.
He said that the policy of present government on Kashmir is not in the right direction and we are trying to give a right direction to the rulers.
He said that we held self determination march from Islamabad to Lahore to educate people of Pakistan, refugees of Jammu and Kashmir about the struggle of the Kashmiris.
He said that another march will be held in July and October to create awareness among the masses about Kashmiris right of self-determination.
