Auction of marks fetches over Rs 25 million

The Punjab government has earned revenue of over Rs1.32 million through auction of attractive registration marks of LRX series.
Additional Director General Excise and Taxation, Punjab, Javed Ashraf Dar, Superintendent E&T Department Chaudhry Mohammad Saleem and MRA Lahore Ahmed Saeed supervised the auction, which was held here at the office of Motor Registering Authority (MRA).
Out of a total of 136 attractive registration marks for LRX series, only 99 were contested. The highest bid of Rs 100,000 was received for LRX-786 while the second and third highest offers of Rs 91,000/- and Rs 66,000 came for LRX-1 and LRX-5, respectively.
Similarly, LRX-2 was auctioned at Rs 25,000/-; LRX-3 at Rs 30,000; LRX-4 Rs 28,000/-; LRX-6 Rs 24,000/-; LRX-7 Rs 35,000/-; LRX-8 Rs 29,000/-; and LRX-9 Rs 31,000/-.
It may be mentioned that since the launch of new auction policy and strict supervisory control by Secretary Excise & Taxation Punjab, Sami Saeed, the provincial government has fetched record revenue of over Rs 25million only from Lahore through auction of attractive registration marks of vehicles in the past two years.
