17 Apr, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed SSP Lahore to get registered FIR against sub-inspector Badr Munir and ASI Abdul Jabbar of Factory Area police station who abducted a girl and also beat her and her brother.
The court also directed the SSP to initiate disciplinary action against both the officials.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by Muhammad Rafi who approached the august court against the respondent police officials.
He contended that the police officials arrested his son Imran Ali and also snatched Rs 5,000.
He approached the high police officials but failed to get any justice. Later the respondent police officials arrested him along with his brother Mangta and tortured them severely.
The respondents, however, released them on court orders. Later, the police officials again raided petitioner's house, humiliated the inmates and also took away her daughter.
However, they set her liberty after torturing her.
The petitioner approached the court with prayer to direct the police officers to take action against the respondent police officials. The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, and examining a report of SP CIA, directed SSP Lahore to take action against the responsible police officials.
