Hong Kong dollar eases

The Hong Kong dollar drifted lower on Wednesday as the US dollar rallied against major currencies following US Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's upbeat remarks on the US economy.
The Hong Kong dollar weakened to a seven-month low of 7.7995/96 to the US dollar edging towards to its pegged exchange rate of HK $7.80, down from 7.7988 in late Asia trade on Tuesday.
