The AEDB delegation was led by its Chairman Air Marshal Shahid Hamid (Red). The other members who attended the presentation included Brigadier Dr Nasim A. Khan, Board Advisor Dr S.M. Bhutta, and Muhammad Ajmal PSO (tech) to the chairman Wapda and co-opt member of the AEDB.
The AEDB secretary gave a detailed presentation regarding the mandate of the Board, various projects in hand and the assistance that alternative energy can provide electricity to the national grid. The presentation added that the solar energy could help alleviate poverty.
He showed keen interest in the matter and commented that he had personally seen these systems operating in different parts of the world, and convinced about the use of solar energy and wind in Pakistan.
Shahid Hamid said the AEDB would fully support the efforts of Wapda for electrification of remote areas through wind and solar energy, and thanked the Wapda chief for his support to the development of renewable energy.
