PML-N protest continues in Multan

24 Apr, 2004

The workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-N on Friday set up a camp at Chowk Kutchery on the ninth day of their protest against the sentence awarded to Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in a sedition case, describing the sentence as unfair and repugnant to the norms of justice.
The party started a nine-day protest programme in Multan city on Thursday.
Under the plan, the party set up protest camps at the prominent squares. Mostly members of the Muslim Lawyers Forum attended the Friday's camp.
However, the party could not establish its camp at Daulat Gate on Thursday due to the incessant rain.
The camps were also established at Chowk Kumharan-wala, Haram Gate, BCG Chowk, Ghanta Ghar, Hussain Agahi, Chungi No 9 and Manzoorabad to mobilise the public opinion against the present government.
The party workers also wore black armbands.
They chanted slogans "We don't accept tyrannical acts", "Taleban say Rishta Kia La Ilaha Illallah".
