24 Apr, 2004

A ring leader of a gang of bus hijackers Jalil Jafar and his accomplice were killed and another two arrested when the Frontier Corps and Levies launched an operation in Sanjavi village near Pir Kash mountainous range on Thursday. The encounter continued for four hours.
"We have killed two hijackers and arrested another two who were involved in more than 100 cases of kidnapping for ransom, murders, and dacoities in the border areas. Those killed were identified as Jafar Jalil (the ring leader), and his brother Bashir Jalil.
The arrested persons were identified as Anwar Khan and Gul Karim," said the commandant of the Frontier Corps.
He said that the arrested persons were shifted to Harnai for interrogation and hoped that this gang would be totally eliminated.
The gang had hijacked a bus with 15 passengers in February 2004 when it was going to Loralai from Dera Ghazi Khan. Law enforcement agencies got them released on March 21. However, the hijackers managed to run away.
