Five persons of a family drowned in the River Indus on Thursday evening as their small boat capsized when they were returning home near Dera Ghazi Khan, some 50 miles west of Multan.
Meanwhile, a rescue team has recovered the bodies of five persons identified as Hajira Bibi (14), Hasnain (5), Riaz Hussain (4), Zahida (6) and Shahida (7), while their parents - Allah Bachaya and Hayatan Mai - were rescued after a four-hour hectic efforts.
According to DPO Dera Ghazi Khan Muhammad Usman, they were returning to their home after harvesting wheat on the eastern bank of the River Indus with their share of wheat, which is paid as wages.
Thousands of people thronged into village Sukhera Arain to attend their funeral rites on Friday.
