Chairman Wapda Tariq Hamid has said that the authority could consider an increase in cash award for the employees to acknowledge their outstanding performance.
Speaking at the 19th quarterly merit certificates award ceremony held here on Friday Tariq hoped that the officers and workers of the authority would put in more committed efforts for further strengthening the positive developments taken place in Wapda.
He stressed the need for ensuring strong team spirit between the administration and workers to further improve the performance.
'The award package has created a competitive environment among the employees in performing their duties, besides discipline and high moral', he maintained.
Tariq called upon the officers and workers to ensure "we care" customers-friendly culture in resolving their problems and difficulties about electricity related operations and thus earn good name for the utility.
He said that the authority had revived the quota for recruitment of employees' children and has also framed a policy to post the low-grade employees near their hometown to enable them to better look after their families.
Referring to the water sector projects, he said, efforts were underway for timely completion of various ongoing projects under the National Water Resources and Hydro-power Development Programme - Vision 2025.
He congratulated Wapda players for winning 18 out of 36 gold medals for the country at the recent SAF games held in Islamabad and thus earning good name for their organisation as well.
The Wapda chief gave away merit certificates and cash awards to the 35 officers and workers for showing outstanding performance in their respective fields of profession during the October-December 2003 quarter.
