National University of Science and Technology (Nust) has signed MoU with Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Sciences (GSCAS) to build up the standards of academic excellence as well as to expose the students and researchers to a broader range of experience in diverse areas of study.
A two-member delegation comprising Professor Dr M. A. Shizhuang, Vice President GSCAS and Professor Shidi Zhang visited National University of Sciences and Technology (Nust) for signing the MoU that may lead to mutually beneficial research collaborations between the two institutions.
GSCAS, which is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in China, was established in 1951.
More than 22,000 students are enrolled at GSCAS in various programmes at its 100 institutes, which impart instruction in disciplines ranging from engineering, science and technology, medicine, literature and linguistics.
A comprehensive briefing encompassing Nust's academic programmes, future plans, industrial linkages and research collaborations was given to the delegates. This was followed by a presentation on GSCAS, its academic programmes and its research areas.
During the detailed discussion, rector Nust and vice president GSCAS exchanged views about the areas in which the two universities could undertake joint research and the ways in which Nust students could pursue their studies at GSCAS.
The decision to explore avenues of research partnership between Nust and GSCAS was officially endorsed by way of signing of MoU between the two organisations. As a goodwill gesture, rector Nust and vice president GSCAS exchanged souvenirs at the end of the MoU ceremony.
