Acid-throwing accused remanded in police custody

Police have been granted three days' physical remand of the culprit and are searching for the other accused involved in injuring three members of a family by throwing acid.
One Muhammad Ilyas threw acid with the help of his accomplice Ghulam Abbas on his sister, her husband and an infant daughter in Kotadu. As a result seven-month-old Rubab sustained serious burn injuries while Abdul Ghaffar and his wife also received burns but they are stated to be out of danger.
Abdul Ghaffar told newsmen that it was the second attempt of Ilyas to deface his brother-in-law when he was going to bazar along with his family.
Muhammad Ilyas, his brother-in-law and his accomplice Ghulam Abbas intercepted their way and threw acid on them resultantly seven month old Rubab injured seriously while they also received burns on the chest, neck and other parts of the body.
Kotadu police have registered a case against the culprits and arrested one of them Muhammad Ilyas.
However, Ilyas categorically denied this allegation and alleged that his sister's husband had implicated him in this case deliberately to take revenge of old enmity.
While Abdul Ghaffar said that Ilyas pressurised his sister to get divorce from him because he disliked him but she flatly refused to do so. Then he attempted on her life.
