Message from PCSIR chairman, Ministry of Science and Technology

26 Apr, 2004

It is matter of great satisfaction and pleasure for me that M/s Marva Beverages (Pvt) Ltd is launching soft drink for the commercial production and sale based on indigenous technology developed by PCSIR.
This is one of the 1362 processes developed by PCSIR for commercialization. So far 1094 processes have been commercialized, which are saving worth Rs 10 billion foreign exchange annually.
Recently in line with the government policies and support PCSIR has involved with number of private entrepreneurs for lease-out of technologies developed by PCSIR in which production and commercialization of Hospital Waste Incinerators, Seabuck Thorne Oil, Silymarine an Anti Cancer product and Clinical Kits are few of the examples.
PCSIR under new industrial linkage programmes is setting quality control and other technical backup facilities for industries in food, textile, pharmaceutical, material science and pollution control sectors.
State of the art testing facilities have already been established for variety of products and other matrix testing at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and Islamabad. PCSIR laboratories Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad have been certified for ISO-9002 and 17025 while other units and laboratories are under process of certification.
PCSIR laboratories are also approved by Saudi Arabian, Japanese and Korean government for the export/import of products and their certification.
The launching of this new indigenous product is another example of confidence in the abilities of PCSIR scientists shown by the private sector. I am sure that many more industrial enterprises will come forward for commercialization if indigenous technologies and processes developed by PCSIR. I pray to Almighty ALLAH for the success of the Council and appreciate the efforts of M/s Marva Beverages (Pvt) Ltd for taking timely initiative.
