ARTICLE: Marva Beverages (Pvt) Limited - a Local Company with International Standard

26 Apr, 2004

In beverages sector, it is very difficult to lay down parameters of standardization because on one hand you are compelled to develop the taste acceptable to consumers while on the other hand you have to avoid the excessive usage of harmful chemicals.
The only way left is to get the analysis done by an independent research institution to maintain the balance. It is not fair to let the business players play with the health of people specially the children.
The Government has to take appropriate steps to check the quantum of undesirable chemicals used by the beverage industry.
In case, all the ingredients used in the manufacturing of concentrates which is claimed to be a secret formula are subjected to analysis and are found within limits set by World Health Organisation (WHO), it can be safely assumed that the carbonated liquids conforms to international standards even if one has to compromise with taste simply because health is more important than taste.
It is heartening to note that at least one company in the private sector is offering its products to scrutiny and setting an example for others to follow. It is not just an act of promoting your products but it does indicate, how much you care about people.
One must keep in mind that after the rules of business set by World Trade Organisation (WTO) comprehensively become operative and the consumer products start invading the markets, the survival of the fittest will be the name of the game. MARVA is planning to introduce soft drinks based on indigenously available raw-materials not only to bring the cost down but also to use such food technologies that offers to maintain equilibrium of the body.
