Only Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) are valid for all purposes and Manual National Identity Cards should not be entertained any more for any purpose.
This was informed by the Ministry of Interior to all governmental departments and organisations.
A circular by the Interior Division said "it has been brought to the notice of the government that certain government departments and organisations have allowed their clients to use the old MNIC in disregard of the SRO No 1139(1) 12003, dated 31-12-2003, under which 31st January was declared as the expiry date of the validity of the MNIC under Section 10 of Nadra ordinance 2000.
"It is reiterated for information to all concerned that only CNICs are valid for all purposes, since the above date and manual cards should not be entertained any more for any purpose," the circular said.
