Shaukat assures Mahar of funds for ongoing projects

Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz called on Sindh Chief Minister Ali Muhammad Mahar at latter's residence here on Sunday and discussed various issues, including National Finance Commission award and important development projects going on in the province.
It was reaffirmed in the meeting that NFC award would be approved with the consensus of all provinces, and interests of Sindh people would be protected.
The CM informed the finance minister that work was being done at a brisk pace on Lyari Expressway, Northern Bypass, RBOD and Thar coal mines and these projects, on completion, would provide facilities to the masses of Sindh.
He said that fortunes of the people of Thar would turn around after completion of Thar coal mines project as they would get employment opportunities.
Mahar said that revolutionary changes were being introduced in education sector in Sindh while progress was being made on providing jobs to some 35,000 educated youngsters in education, health and police departments.
He said that important measures were being taken for development of agriculture and other sectors while comprehensive planning was on for tourism and culture.
Shaukat said that necessary funds would be granted by federal government for Lyari Expressway, Northern Bypass, RBOD and Thar coal mines in order to get these projects completed in the stipulated duration, and the masses could get the benefit from these projects.
He stressed that such plans should be made for education in the province which could facilitate the common man. Necessary funds would be provided in this regard by the Centre, he said.
Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat was also present on the occasion.
