Ministers barred from visiting polling stations

Chief Election Commissioner, former Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan has directed that no federal or provincial minister or minister of state would be allowed to visit polling station on the polling day of bye-elections except to cast vote in the constituency where he is registered as voter.
According to a press release of the Election Commission of Pakistan, the decision will also be applicable for City District Nazim, Naib Nazim, Town Nazim, Naib Town Nazim including any other official, functionary or person.
The forthcoming by-elections of the National and provincial assemblies' constituencies are scheduled to be held on Wednesday in the Punjab and Sindh.
These officials are also not allowed to canvass for vote at the polling stations or within the radius of 400 yards of the polling stations on the polling day.
