PPMA seeks cut in duty on plastic raw material

The Pakistan Plastic Manufacturers Association (PPMA) has urged Federal Finance Minister Shuakat Aziz and the CBR chairman to reduce duty on import of plastic raw material to 10 percent besides, waiving six percent income tax levied on importer.
In a statement issued here on Monday, PPMA President S.M. Tariq said that plastic raw material has registered 'indiscriminate rise' in its prices due to which small business units were facing numerous hardships, adding this situation coupled with 20 percent import duty and six percent income tax would render lives of plastic manufacturers miserable.
He called upon the federal finance minister to slash duty and sales tax rate on plastic raw material besides, giving a waiver of six percent income tax to the plastic manufacturers to keep running of thousands of units.
