The Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) will disburse Rs 39 billion credit during Kahrif and Rabi seasons.
About Rs 30 billion credit has been disbursed by the bank during last year. This was stated by Executive Director Mohammad Tasneem on Monday in a PTV programme.
He said that this year Rs 39 billion credit would be provided to farmers, while this figure might be increased to Rs 50 billion next year.
He said that present agricultural sector credit requirement is about Rs 200 billion, which ZTBL can not meet without the co-operation of others financial institutions.
He said that ZTB has allocated Rs 29 billion for production side including seeds, fertiliser, pesticides etc.
About Rs 10 billion loans will be granted for development purposes to purchase tractors, machinery and drilling of tube-wells, he added.
Tasneem said that at present ZTBL is granting Rs 15 million loans daily to farmers for Kharif season.
About the procedure of granting loans to farmers, he said that the bank has introduced one-window operation and credit revolving scheme to facilitate the farming community in getting credit without hassle.
Under the revolving credit facility, which is for three years, growers can get their loans renewed after paying the interest on the credit without any new documentation, he said. Under one-window operation, credit amount has been increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 100,000, on the demand of farmers' community.
Revolving credit amount has also been increased from Rs 0.25 million to Rs 05 million, he added.
He said that the bank's recovery rate is 75 percent which hopefully be 85 percent next year.
