LHC orders case registration against cop

22 May, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC), while setting a detenue Muhammad Riaz at liberty, directed the District Police Officer (DPO) Sargodha, to get registered a criminal case against police Inspector Nasir Mehmood of Bhalwal police station.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed for the recovery of the detenue who prayed to the court to appoint bailiff for his recovery. The court, accordingly, appointed court bailiff who recovered him from the illegal custody of respondent police officer.
He submitted to the court that neither the detenue was required to police nor any entry of his arrest was found in the record of police station.
The court, after examining the report submitted by the court bailiff, disposed of the petition and set the detenue at liberty.
