02 Jun, 2004

Lahore High Court called the Registrar Trade Unions for June 2 in a petition filed by the Wapda Labour Union (WLU) along with the record.
The petitioner, WLU President Qaiser Mustafa, through his counsel Mian Hanif Tahir contended that the referendum in Wapda for the election of CBA union was being held on June 3.
He said that the respondent has made a number of irregularities in the voters' list and polling scheme, and trying to keep the petitioner union out of the referendum.
He said that the referendum in question was not being held in a transparent manner and prayed to the court to stay the same with immediate effect.
The court after hearing the petitioner counsel at length issued notices to the respondent and directed him to appear before the court with concerned record.
