Sit-in staged against contaminated water supply

A large number of residents of Taluka Qasimabad blocked bypass road here on Friday by staging a "Dharna" (sit-in) under aegis of Qasimabad Action Committee against the continuous supply of toxic water to the citizens, which caused deaths of to dozen people, most of them were children.
The enraged residents of various localities of Taluka gathered at bypass road, where they staged a protest demonstration, leading suspension of traffic for many hours.
They demanded stern action against officials of irrigation department and other civic institutions for hiding the facts of regarding supply of contaminated water to the people.
Meanwhile, residents of Shah bazaar under umbrella of Al-Muslim Welfare Muhalla Committee held a protest demonstration before Hyderabad Press Club against the water shortage for last a year.
Talking to newsmen the protesters complained that they were facing acute drinking water shortage since October, 2003.
