Mauritius sugar production seen higher

Mauritius sugar production is expected to rise to about 590,000 tonnes in 2004 from 537,155 tonnes the previous year, the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture said in its annual forecast on Friday.
"The Chamber of Agriculture estimates that the sugar production for this year will be about 590,000 tonnes, almost 10 percent more than the previous harvest of 537,155 tonnes," said the Chamber, which provides the island's sugar crop forecasts.
