The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Excise & Taxation department to decide the matter regarding registration of Chinese made sporty vehicles within a fortnight.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by Sardar Chemicals praying to direct the respondent E&T department to allow registration of the vehicles imported from China.
The respondent E&T department contended that the vehicle in question did not fall in the purview of the Motor Vehicle Ordinance.
The petitioner however contended that the respondent E&T officials with malafide intentions are refusing registration of the vehicles in question. It was prayed to the court to declare the action of the respondents as illegal, unconstitutional and without lawful authority.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, disposed off the petition with directions to respondent to decide the matter within a fortnight.
