Gujrat to have university

Punjab government has decided to establish a University at Gujrat to facilitate the people of central Punjab as well as to reduce the pressure on existing universities in the province.
Official sources told APP here on Wednesday that the courses and curriculum would be introduced in accordance with the need of youth and industrial sector of the area for successful functioning of the university.
The need based courses will not only benefit the youth of the area but also benefit the industrial sector of this export-triangle of Gujrat, Gujranwala and Sialkot.
The proposed university would produce adequate trained manpower for technical support of the industrial sector of this export-triangle, sources added.
The government was making strenuous efforts for introducing suitable courses for future students of the university.
In this regard, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) is assisting Punjab government for identifying the needs and required courses and curriculum to be taught in university at Gujrat, sources concluded.
