US MIDDAY: sugar at two-week low

11 Jun, 2004

CSCE raw sugar futures ended lower on Thursday as spread business and a slack cash market kept prices on the defensive, with more of the same range-bound business expected in the coming week, traders said. "It was primarily guys rolling out of July today. We should see this continuing in the weeks ahead," said one broker.
CSCE July sugar slid 0.18 cent to settle at a two-week low at 6.75 cents a lb. The day's range was from 6.68 to 6.95 cents a lb.
October finished down 0.13 cent at 7.24 cents a lb, while back month contracts lost 0.06 to 0.09 cent. Final traded volume was listed at 207 lots against the previous 111 lots.
