A military man Muhammad Ashraf (40) allegedly killed his son Muhammad Adeel (12) in Gashkori village, (Okara), some 170 miles east of here as Adeel could not be promoted to next class in the annual examination.
Police have registered a case on the report of the soldier's wife Ruqaiya Bibi. However, no arrest was made.
Police have informed the commanding officer of his unit in Jhelum.
"A soldier Muhammad Ashraf (40), who came to home on leave, asked about his son whether he passed or failed in the annual examination. His wife told him that he (Adeel) could not pass the examination, Ashraf got infuriated and gave his son severe beating with a baton. Later, he crushed him under the wheel of his motorcycle on Monday ," the police said.
The soldier ran away when he saw that his son had died. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the relatives for burial. A large number of people of the area and relatives attended the funeral rites of the boy.
The DPO Okara said: "We have informed the commanding officer about the incident to ensure the soldier's arrest."
