Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has introduced state-of-the-art Gas Leakage Detection System at its CNG stations to ensure safety and health of its customers.
The first Gas Leakage Detection System was inaugurated by managing Director PSO Tariq Kirmani, at PSO's MG Motors, Clifton, Karachi, on Wednesday. Managing Director Attock Refinery Limited was also present.
The system installed has numerous detectors linked together to monitor gas levels throughout the station. These sensors ensure gas levels do not reach lower explosive limit at any stage of operation.
If there is a leakage, central monitoring system activates alarm and automatically initiates emergency shutdown. The alarm warns station manager of impending leakage.
At the same time, automatic shut off valves ensure that any leak in piping downstream of storage does not allow stored gas to be released, thereby, minimising risk of collection of explosive level of gas.
The system, thus, initiates complete closure of CNG station.
The mandatory installation of Gas Leakage Detection System at all PSO CNG stations will not only ensure safety and security of life and property but also prevent environmental pollution.
