The National Assembly was informed on Friday that Pakistan International Airline (PIA) would purchase new aircraft to replace Fokkers.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Major Syed Tanvir Hussain (Retd), stated this while responding a calling attention notice.
MNA Maulana Rehmatullah Khalil drew attention of the parliamentary secretary towards accident of Fokker at Chitral Airport, engines failure of Boeing 777 while flying over Atlantic Ocean and catching fire of an airplane at Manchester Airport.
Tanvir Hussain admitted that Fokker plane crash-landed at Chitral Airport.
He informed the House that the President has established an inquiry committee in this regard while Civil Aviation Authority is also investigating the matter.
In another case, he said engines of Boeing 777 ceased while flying over Atlantic Ocean. Parliamentary Secretary further said that another incident took place at Manchester Airport when tyres of Boeing 777 caught fire.
Keeping in view the inefficiency of Fokker planes, Pakistan International Airline has ordered purchase of new airplanes, he said.
