Punjab to have two women jails

The Punjab government has planned to construct one each women jail at Faisalabad and Rawalpindi during the financial year 2004-05.
The Directorate of Reclamation and Probation, Punjab is working for the reformation rehabilitation of offenders released on parole/probation.
The Directorate is making efforts to extend benefits for the betterment and welfare of juvenile offenders under the provisions of newly enforced Juvenile Justice System Ordinance 2000, irrespective of gender discrimination, to promote and uplift the vulnerable prisoners/offenders.
Warden service, consisting of volunteers including women in all the classified town of the Punjab, has been developed to provide organised and disciplined manpower for peace time hazards like flood, cyclones, strikes, major fires, crime control, first aid and bomb blast/scare incidents to raise the morale of the public besides rendering assistance to civil administration in addition to its assigned functions during war/emergency.
