Intellectuals, writers and senior journalists paid rich tributes to veteran journalist late Azad Kausri at a reference held in connection with his first death anniversary here on Friday.
The reference, which was organised by Lahore Press Club (LPC) Literary Committee, was attended by friends, family members and colleagues of Azad Kausri who lauded his services in the field of journalism and recalled the golden moments spent with him.
Rubina Jillani, a journalist while speaking on the occasion said that late Azad Kausri was a man of progressive ideas, who worked for the cause of journalists and promoted innovative themes in the field of journalism. He belonged to a liberal school of thought, she observed. While throwing light upon the literary work of late Kausri, she said that he worked as in-charge of Mussawat besides serving Jang Group of newspapers. Moreover, he remained president of Young Thinkers Association. She said that he had strong belief in humanism and democracy. Furthermore, he translated a book, 'History of Russian Communist Party' into Urdu.
Noted writer Younas Javed said that late Kausri introduced progressive ideas in journalism and always encouraged newcomers in this arena. He always welcomed constructive criticism on his ideas and viewpoint.
SAFMA General Secretary Imtiaz Alam, Shaista Nuzhat, Hameed Akhtar, Khawar Naeem Hashmi, GCU Professor Kamran Tahir and LPC Literary Committee Member Muzaffar Muhammad Ali were present on the occasion.
