The Task Force of Punjab Provincial Co-operative Bank Limited (PPCBL) which met here with Haroon I. Kayani in the chair, was briefed on the performance of the bank.
The chairman of the task force was informed that in pursuance of his observations and recommendations the bank had made tremendous progress in restructuring in the fields of micro-financing, direct loaning to small farmers. Amendments were also being made in the Co-operative Societies Act, he was told.
The chairman on this occasion observed that now, when an immense progressive had been achieved in that field during the last one year, the bank should concentrate on the genuine societies so that benefits should be passed on to needy small farmers within the ambit of co-operative societies.
He also emphasised the bank should explore and identify areas for launching new products in marketing, warehouses, live stock and dairy development, agricultural implements for mechanised farming etc. That initiative would not only benefit the small farmers but also bring about improvement in the Co-operative Movement on the whole, he added.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Co-operatives Farkhanda Wasim Afzal, Registrar Co-operatives/ PPCBL President Khalid Pervez and bank's General Manger Raja Allah Bakhsh.
