THE RUPEE: dollar mixed in forex market

The rupee on Saturday lost two paisa in relation to dollar in the interbank market for buying and selling at Rs 57.96 and Rs 57.97, dealers said.
Buying pressure continued in the interbank market which kept the rates low, they added.
In the world markets, the dollar drifted lower versus leading currencies, they said.
The rupee managed to recover three paisa versus dollar for buying and selling at Rs 58.40 and Rs 58.45, they added.

The dollar resumed trading at its overnight closing level of Rs 58.50 and Rs 58.60 as its buying and selling rates, respectively, and then kept moving downward to finally finish at Rs 58.45 and Rs 58.55, respectively, the currency dealers said.
As it was half day of banks, therefore, a small number of people visited the currency market, which led to low turnover.
Meanwhile, the pound was purchased at Rs 107.25, and sold at Rs 107.50 as compared to its overnight closing of Rs 107.20 and Rs 107.60, respectively, they added.
The dollar opened at Rs 58.40 (buying) and Rs 58.50 (selling) against the previous rate. It did not observe any further change in the second session, and closed at Rs 58.40 (buying) and Rs 58.50 (selling).
The pound sterling opened at Rs 107 (buying) and Rs 107.20 (selling) against the overnight value. It did not observe any further change in the second session, and closed at Rs 107 (buying) and Rs 107.20 (selling).
The Canadian dollar opened at Rs 42.60 (buying) and Rs 42.80 (selling) against the overnight value. It did not witness any further change in the evening session, and closed at Rs 42.60 (buying) and Rs 42.80 (selling).
