44 dead

21 Jun, 2004

President Musharraf ordered thorough probe into the bus falling off the bridge near Islamabad killing 44 persons, to thwart such accidents in future. Well done, President.
Why could such measures not be anticipated before hand to thwart such accidents in the first place.
Do we need an Aristotle to tell us that the traffic police takes Bhatta from the bus operators and allows them to violate all traffic rules. Buses crawl at snail's pace while leaving the adda with their conductors stretching out their body fully from the open doors shouting and hailing for the passengers and shoving them in the moving buses.
Such shemozzles are brazenly visible even to the most naïve at all lorry stands of the country.
This ill-fated bus was also picking up passengers outside the bus terminal and was hit in the process by a trawler.
Had the bus not stopped at such a precarious place of the bridge, in complete violation of the traffic rules to pick up/drop a few passengers there, 44 families would not have gone into mourning of their loved ones.
Please, President, hang the responsible Traffic Police Incharge and that could serve as a lesson to others. He is responsible for the death of 44 persons.
