The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice to Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in an appeal filed by former Federal Minister, Haji Muhammad Nawaz Khokhar challenging the decision of an Accountability Court AC against him.
The AC convicted Khokhar for three years imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1.9 million and disqualified him from being a member of the parliament for the next 10 years.
The applicant contended in his appeal that the respondent court had neither examined the relevant record nor heard his council's submissions. He prayed to the court to set aside the decision of the respondent AC and also acquit him from the charges.
The court, after hearing petitioner's counsel at length, issued notice to Chairman NAB to submit his reply.
The accused was convicted for evading revenue charges in the purchase of a plot in Islamabad causing damage to the public exchequer in millions of rupees.
