The government is going to sign an agreement on Monday next for writing off of around $500 million debt out of the remaining $2 billion debt owed by Pakistan to US leaving the total debt to around $1.5 billion.
The government would officially sign the agreement on Monday for $500 million debt write-off from the US government.
The agreement would be signed by Nancy Powell, US Ambassador in Pakistan, and Dr Waqar Masood, secretary economic affairs division.
The government would take up the case of remaining debt of $1.5 billion Pakistan owes to US and would try to seek the same treatment as the US government has granted for writing off the $1.5 billion out of the total debt of $3 billion.
