The Punjab government has decided to establish educational institutions for special children at tehsil level during next fiscal year in the province.
Official sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the government had allocated Rs 400 million for that programme aimed at providing educational facilities to the special children in their respective areas.
At present, there are 600,000 special children of which only 4,200 children are getting education in 49 institutions functioning in various parts of the Punjab.
The government adopted special measures for increasing the number of special children in the institutions, functioning in the Punjab.
Under the programme, parents of special children would be motivated that they should enroll their special kids in educational institutions while government would provide Rs 200 per month as stipend to the school going special children, sources added.
