EU team meets Kashmiri leaders

The European Union (EU) parliamentary delegation currently on a visit of occupied Kashmir and led by John Cushnahan, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of European Parliament on Thursday met with Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, reports Kashmir Media Service.
Shabbir Shah briefed them about the situation and also apprised them that people in occupied Kashmir want peaceful resolution of the issue. He told them that people of J&K had completely boycotted the fake parliamentary polls as they felt it couldn't be an alternative to right to self-determination.
He said that EU should play a more active role in resolving the issue according to wishes and aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The EU delegation told him that they would submit a detailed report to EU parliament in this regard.
Later in a day the delegation called on JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik at his Maisuma headquarters here.
Malik briefed them about the signature campaign of his party and said that nearly four lakh people had participated in the campaign demanding that genuine representative of people of Jammu and Kashmir be involved in the talks aimed at resolving the Kashmir issue.
He also highlighted the human rights violations being committed by occupied Indian troops and called on the EU to take note of such incidents and use its good offices with India to stop such acts.
The EU delegation again reiterated that people of J&K were main party and they should be included in the dialogue process.
