The Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Ellahi has said that a comprehensive strategy has been evolved for provision of education, health, potable water, sewerage and other facilities to the dwellers of katchi abadis all over the province.
This programme, he added, will be implemented in consonance with requirements of national housing policy.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a high-level meeting held here on Saturday, to review matters regarding katchi abadis. The meeting was attended by District Nazim Lahore Mian Amer Mahmood, Provincial Minister for Information Technology, Abdul Aleem Khan, Chief Secretary Kamran Rasool, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Safdar Syed and heads of the concerned departments.
Ellahi said that concrete steps are being taken to provide high standard of life to the residents of katchi abadis.
It will be ensured that all decisions regarding provision of proprietary rights to residents of katchi abadis are implemented in totality, the Chief Minister said adding that concerned departments have been strictly directed not to cause any delay in the process of granting proprietary rights to katchi abadis residents.
He also instructed the officers of Railways to adopt a positive attitude towards those living along railway lines and directed that the process of infrastructure development in katchi abadis should be expedited in order to quicken pace of progress in these areas.
