Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Leader of Opposition and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal secretary general, who arrived at Jinnah International Airport here by a PIA flight was sent back in another Islamabad bound flight on Saturday evening.
The Sindh government had imposed a ban on Friday on the entry of Maulana Fazlur Rahman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed in the province, disallowing both the leaders to attend a 'Peace Rally' being organised by MMA on June 27 (Today), in the city.
According to details, Fazlur Rahman arrived at the Karachi Airport by a PIA flight PK-369 at about 8 p.m. but was not allowed to leave the arrival lounge and was later sent back to Islamabad by Aero Asia flight at around 9 p.m.
A large contingent of LEA personnel was deployed in and around the vicinity of airport to avert any untoward incident on the arrival of the opposition leader.
Various MMA leaders and workers including MNA Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, Allama Hassan Turrabi and Senator Ismail Buledi were present at the airport to receive Maulana Fazlur Rahman, but all of them were barred from entering the airport premises.
Fazlur Rahman told newsmen that the security officials did not allow him to come out of terminal building and informed him that he was being sent back to Islamabad.
Earlier, the MNAs of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) demanded of the Sindh Chief Minister Dr Ghulam Arbab Rahim to permanently ban the entry of Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed in Karachi.
