Tariff anomaly body set up

29 Jun, 2004

The government has constituted a tariff anomaly committee to examine anomalies, which have arisen due to customs duty changes in the budget 2004-05.
The committee headed by the finance secretary will include CBR chairman and commerce and industries secretaries.
The complaints regarding anomalies must reach the CBR before July 15, 2004. The cases will be processed in the respective wings of the CBR, which would be put up to the committee for decision.
The committee will not consider new proposals or general requests for specific tariff structures or other non-budget issues.
Only genuine tariff anomalies would be considered by the tax authorities.
