The headers of PML, United States chapter, on Monday expressed the hope that under the leadership of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, "Pakistan would continue to march on the path of progress and prosperity."
The change of prime minister, they stated, was a constitutional and democratic provision and an inherent right of the assembly, and decision to this effect had been arrived at through consultation and on the basis of consensus by PML parliamentary party and its coalition allies. Hence, there was no apprehension of any dissension in the rank and file, whatsoever.
The meeting welcomed nomination of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain for the prime ministerial slot.
The PML leaders expressed these views at their meeting, participated by Mian Zakir Naseem and Malik Sikandar Aziz. The other party-men attending the meeting were Chaudhry Shamshad Ahmed, Akhtar Ali Jonda, Ghulam Farid Langrial, Raja Mehdi Khan, Afzal Gulbahar, Javed Iqbal Umwana, Shaikh Iftikhar Rasool and Master Nashad.
In the present state of affairs, they said, designation of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was "the most befitting decision," and hoped, "it would lead to political stability."
"The change has the stamp of affirmation of the outgoing Leader of the House, who himself pronounced that he has furnished the formal resignation, and that Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali continues to have full faith in the party," they said.
The party meeting eulogised the services rendered by Jamali, and added that by adhering to the party decision and by duly furnishing resignation, from the highest official slot, the outgoing Prime Minister has set "a healthy democratic tradition."
The PML-Q party said the change of Leader of the House would not create any crisis, as the change was part of the democratic process and it would lead to consolidation of the political and democratic system.
