A complete line of bungalows here on 10th street in Phase-VI of the Defence Housing Authority, also housing sub-office of the UPP, suffered a complete power failure for nine continuous hours on Friday from 2 pm to 11 pm as wire replacement work was delayed by KESC field teams in order to earn more overtime.
When the work of replacing the overhead wires in over an area of two hundred metres was undertaken in the afternoon, the KESC field staff said the job would be completed in two hours but dragged it through nine hours, rendering life miserable for residents of around dozens of houses located on the unfortunate street.
However, it was the formal loud and harshly worded complaints to the KESC authorities that resulted in partial resumption of power supply at 11 pm. Residents of the area have urged the KESC senior technical staff to monitor the cases of wire-replacement by the their field staff.
