Anti Terrorist Court Sibi Judge Mohammed Ismail Baloch on Friday awarded death penalties to eight accused, namely Behram Khan, Fazal Muhammad, Bakht Ali, Lal Jan, Abdul Latif, Ghulam Rasool, Rahim and Peru Khan, in the murder case of Ex-Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sibi Range, Abdut Aziz Bullo.
The court also sentenced two other accused Muhammad Ismail and Hadas Khan to five years rigorous imprisonment in the same case while acquitted Abdul Aziz of the charge giving him benefit of doubt.
Six other accused involved in the same case have already been killed in various police encounters on Sindh-Balochistan border. They included Sabir Hussain, Abdul Fateh, Haroon Kandrani, Abdul Rehmap, Mewa Khan and Mian Bakhsh.
The convicts along with their deceased accomplices had killed DIG Sibi range and three other police officials Nawab Khan, Suleman Khan and another by opening fire on them with sophisticated weapons during a robbery attempt on Dera Murad Jamali-Nuttal highway on June 9.
The DIG and police officials were on their way from Dera Murad Jamali to Nuttal in their official van when they were incepted by the convicts.
