A small private plane made an emergency landing on a main street in Beirut Saturday after the flight instructor and a student pilot encountered technical problems, aviation sources told AFP.
"A Cesna 172 plane landed at around 10:30 am (0730 GMT) on the main street in Jnah" neighbourhood, close to the Marriott hotel located in south of the capital, said the source, who did not wish to be identified.
"The pilot, who is an instructor, and the trainee, from the Lebanese family Itani, are safe," it said.
"The engine of the plane encountered problems, so the instructor asked for permission to land in this area," it added.
