At least eight people, including five of a same family, drowned in two different incidents at Gadani and Sonera Point on Sunday.
According to Edhi sources, five picnickers, including three children, drowned due to rough sea and high waves at Gadani beach on Sunday afternoon where they were enjoying.
The incident occurred when a high wave suddenly arose from the sea and took away the three children. The situation further aggravated when the elders present made desperate attempts to rescue the drowning children and they also drowned due to rough sea.
All five victims belonged to the same family hailing from North Nazimabad area. Two bodies were recovered till filing of this report and identified as Mohammad Jahangir and Mohammad Saeed.
The bodies were subsequently shifted to Civil Hospital. Edhi rescue team was still reportedly busy to locate other victims' bodies.
In another incident, at least three people fell prey to rough sea at Sonera Point, Edhi sources said.
According to details, an unidentified dead body of 12-year-old boy was found at the spot, while two other people Mohammad Riaz (43) and Asif Hussain (34) were reported drowned and missing from the same site.
Another person, Saeed (35) was found in unconscious condition and was shifted to Civil Hospital where he was described to be out of danger.
APP adds: Rescue workers have recovered bodies of the two children and one fainted person from the sea of Gadani area after a hectic struggle of six hours, Edhi sources said.
The children have been identified as baby Rabia, 5 and Obaid 8. Bodies of one adult and a boy were still missing.
Two rescue teams of Edhi along with locals were busy in locating the bodies in the rough sea.
