KWSB engineers asked to disconnect illegal connections

05 Jul, 2004

Managing Director, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) Brigadier Iftikhar Haider has asked KWSB engineers to take immediate steps for disconnecting illegal and over-sized water connections in the city to control water shortage.
He was chairing a meeting of KWSB engineers of Baldia Town, Orangi Town, Site Town and Saddar Town at his office on Saturday.
He said that illegal and over-sized connections were the major cause of water shortage and serious disruption of water supply to various parts of the city.
Brigadier Iftikhar Haider underlined the need for closely monitoring water supply pipelines and valves to ensure that self-connections are discouraged.
He urged the citizens to approach KWSB for getting water connections instead of self-action as this damages water supply pipelines.
He said that legal connection also eliminates the chances of water contamination.
