Pakistan has been invited to the second Asia economic summit, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from August 9 to 11. The theme is "securing Asia's future in an uncertain world."
According to the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Michael Yeoh, the summit is being organised by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute, is indeed apt and timely to reconsolidate and regenerate investments into the region to enable Asia regain its competitive edge.
It is being co-organised by Malaysia's oldest media company, The New Straits Times, with the relevant theme, focusing on Asia's economic future at a time of uncertainty and volatility.
The summit will bring together the principal stakeholders in Asia's continued peace and prosperity from the three following sectors: -The government, business and civil society to brain storm and debate critical issues of importance to the region and how Asia will interact with Europe, America and Australia.
The high level gathering will help rebuild confidence in Asia, redefine Asia's future well-being and assess the strategic directions for the Asian governments and companies.
Besides keynote address on "The rise of a new Asia - shaping Asia's response to global economic challenges " and special keynote addresses on " the United States and Asia-promoting common interests - perspective from Hawaii " and "Balancing growth and stability: winning outcomes for trade and business" the topics to be discussed at various sessions of the conference include:
