NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has appealed to President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to summon the meetings of 6th NFC Award and mediation committee on hydel net profit issue.
He said it has become essential in the wake of prevalent post-budget scenario.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said that such sensitive and important matters were put in the cold storage in the past due to lack of sincerity and decision power, while public deprivation and other negative effects were not sensed by the past rulers.
He said that further delay in such national issues would further deteriorate the situation and would also cause damage to the national interests. Therefore, he said, it was the dire need of the time to resolve it amicably for good.
Siraj also demanded of Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz to exercise his powers and responsibilities to summon these meetings and leading it to decisive stages. He said that living nations did not slightly delay in making decisions and implementing it in letter and spirit.
While referring to the immense level of backwardness and poverty in the province, he said that pictures of hungry children and women searching food items in garbage heaps in cities and towns, including Peshawar were appearing in the newspapers time and again, while this alarming situation could only be resolved after due resources were provided to the province.
He said that industrial and economic infrastructure was already negligible in the province, while prolong stay of millions of Afghan refugees has added to our miseries.
He said that all such difficulties could be overcome by timely deciding 6th NFC Award and fixing of the hydel net profit and outstanding dues, he said.
