Weak mobile phone signals in Keamari hamper trade

08 Jul, 2004

The local exporters and importers have complained about the working of mobile telephones in Keamari where phone signals are very fragile.
The complaints, mostly about mobile service provided by the Mobilink, while the mobile phones service provided by other companies catch loud signals, helping phone holders to communicate comfortably with their clients.
Keamari is a vintage place, housing offices of the exporters, importers and ship agents and the most important place in the area is the Karachi Port.
The exporters and importers cannot communicate with their clients outside the area due to weaker phone signals.
A textile exporter said on Wednesday that he had been using the Mobilink service for five years and despite several complaints, the company did not take any steps to improve the signals in Keamari area.
Many exporters and importers in the area are planning to shift to another mobile phone service if the company did not improve its service in Keamari area.
