Alumni Association of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) has approved the constitution of the association, and also elected its office bearers in a general body meeting held here on Wednesday.
Under the constitution of the association, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad has been named president of the association, while Dr M. Ovais Omer has been nominated as general secretary of the body. The other office bearers are Professor Dr Tariq Aziz (senior vice-president), Dr Muhammad Iqbal (vice-president), Dr Noor uz Zaman Khan (information secretary) and Dr Kamran Ashraf as treasurer.
The executive committee members are Dr Asim Mahmood Khan (Punjab), Dr Ghulam Habib (NWFP), Dr Azam Kasi (Balochistan) and Dr Muhammad Ajmal Baloch from Sindh.
Addressing the meeting, Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad said that UVAS was focusing on practical-oriented education and imparting hands-on skills to its students to cope with the emerging needs of this hi-tech age. Along academic and research activities, the university was equally focusing on co-curricular and extra-curricular activities to produce well-bred graduates so that they could enter into the practical life as useful and responsible citizens.
We do not want our students to remain isolated in the livestock field and thus giving them exposure to other fields also by arranging training workshop, seminars, lecturers and sports activities.
